The benefits of electric warm air heating systems

Cost-effective.

An electric warm air heating system is one of the quickest and most efficient ways to heat a large space. Because your space will reach the desired temperature faster, this will help you cut down on your energy costs.

Provides an alternative to Gas.

Perfect for premises where there is no natural gas on site and no available space for an external LPG storage facility.

Eco-friendly.

For businesses who want a greener and more environmentally friendly alternative to gas. By moving to an electric-powered solution for your heating, you will be reducing your carbon emissions and contributing to a greener and more sustainable future for the planet.

Improved comfort.

By providing an even temperature throughout your space and avoiding hot and cold spots, an electric warm air heating system will maximise the comfort of your employees, as well as any visitors or customers.

Flexible control.

A custom-designed electric warm air heating system allows for precise and targeted control over the heating of your space. This doesn’t just offer further efficiency benefits, but it also ensures you can maintain the most comfortable temperature throughout the day.

Versatile design and installation.

With the help of experienced engineers, an electric warm air heating system can be tailored to suit the requirements of your space. With a careful selection and positioning of the heaters, alongside additional support from destratification fans, we can ensure you’ll get the heating system you need.

Our case studies

Finding an Eco-friendly heating solution for Medstrom

At OKEL, we have a long-standing relationship with Medstrom, an industry-leading hospital bed manufacturing and management company. Having previously helped them to install heating systems in five of their sites across the UK, they came to us looking for a solution for their five new warehouses in the UK and Ireland.

This time, however, they wanted to opt for environmentally friendly electric warm air heating systems to accelerate their move toward carbon neutrality. To balance energy efficiency with their precise temperature control needs, we chose to install Winterwarm 3-phase EH electric warm air heaters, which offered a modulation feature and gradient control.

Medstrom was so pleased with the results that they’ve taken the bold step of replacing some of their older gas-fired warm air heating systems at their other service centres with the Winterwarm EH electric heater systems. Find out more in our Medstrom 2022 case study.

Adapting to meter capacity and space constraints with Anilox Laser Technology

Anilox Laser Technology is an innovative, industry-leading manufacturer in the print and packaging industry. We had previously helped Anilox with a gas warm air heating solution at one of their Manchester factories. But when they came to us seeking the same system for neighbouring premises, they encountered a major issue: the existing gas meter had no spare capacity, and there was no space for an LPG storage facility.

anilox team stood in a line

To solve this problem while still meeting their tight deadline, we proposed an electric warm air heating system that wouldn’t require any modifications. It would also have the added benefit of using the same MTC controller system as the system we had previously installed at the other site.

As a result, Anilox weren’t just well-prepared for the approaching winter – they also didn’t need to adapt to a new system, making the transition significantly smoother. To learn more about how we were able to help, read our full Anilox Laser Technology case study.

Maximising efficiency at ARJO’s Manchester warehouse

ARJO, an internationally recognised supplier of mobility solutions, were struggling to keep their Manchester warehouse warm using their existing wet heating system. Given the size of the warehouse – with the ceiling reaching 11m at its apex – a wet heating system was not an efficient, cost-effective way to heat the space.

To deliver the results ARJO was looking for, our team proposed the introduction of a Winterwarm EH40 electric air heater. By switching to a warm air heating system, ARJO would be able to significantly improve the temperature consistency in their warehouse. And with an electric warm air heating option, they would also benefit from significant energy savings.

Frequently Asked Questions

Most frequent questions and answers about Electric Warm Air Systems

Yes, electric warm air heating systems are the perfect choice for larger spaces. Unlike radiant heating systems, which are better suited for heating localised areas, an electric warm-air heating system uses fans to diffuse hot air throughout your space, making it ideal for large, open-plan areas such as factories and warehouses. Coupled with a destratification solution, an electric warm air heating system provides efficient and effective heating of even the largest spaces.

When considering electric heating versus gas we are upfront with all our customers that an electric heating solution is very likely to be more expensive to run simply down to the purchase price of fuel from your energy suppliers. To heat with electric or gas requires the same amount of kws and therefore the only difference to consider is the cost per kw/h that you are paying to your utility provider for your commercial gas versus commercial electricity.

For some customers a gas fuelled heating system simply isn’t an option due to a host of factors including no gas supply available on site, some landlords refusing to allow tenants to introduce gas to protect the building’s EPC ratings, and stringent environmental targets set by the individual business or businesses that they trade with.

We install gas and electric-fuelled heating solutions so whatever your preference we have a solution to suit however your chosen fuel type is something that we ask you to carefully consider as a business, especially future operational running costs, and whether the pros of electric heating outweigh the cons.

Thanks to innovations in sound insulation and improvements in fan technology, electric warm air heating systems can heat large spaces with minimal noise. Whether you need to minimise ambient noise in your warehouse space to ensure your staff can easily communicate or you’re looking to heat a retail space or sports hall without disturbing your customers, an electric warm air heating system is a great choice.

If you’re investing in an electric warm air heating system for your commercial space, you’ll want to ensure it’s not only installed properly and following all safety regulations, but also that it’s ideally suited to your needs.

In the first instance, that means you’ll need to look for an electrical contractor with the necessary experience and qualifications to work on 3-phase electrical heating installations and often working at height –a domestic professional simply won’t have the knowledge and skills you need to ensure the best possible installation, and neither be accredited or insured to work in a commercial / industrial setting.

It’s also important to work with a team that can provide a tailored service that will provide the best solution for your space. Rather than a one-size-fits-all approach, look for a team that provides a custom installation process based on an in-depth engagement with your needs. And that’s exactly what we offer here at OKEL.

The cost of an electric warm air heating system will depend on a wide range of factors, including the number and specifications of the heaters you require, the size of the space you’re looking to heat, and any additional requirements such as thermostatic controls and destratification solutions. At OKEL, we offer free quotations, so if you’d like to get a clear sense of the cost for your specific situation, get in touch today.

Installation times for an electric warm air heating system will vary based on the scale of the project and the layout of the space you’re looking to heat. It will also depend on whether you will need to continue operations during the installation process.

Here at OKEL, we try to ensure that there is minimum disruption to your business while we install your heating system, but this can result in a longer installation time. And ultimately, it’s important to remember that an electric heating system is a long-term investment. While we know you’ll want your new heating system up and running as soon as possible, it’s vital that it meets your expectations.

A well-designed and properly installed electric warm air heating system should provide significant long-term benefits to your business. At OKEL, we believe in building electric warm air systems that last. That’s why we use only top-quality components throughout, backed by extensive manufacturer warranties for your peace of mind.

A perfect and effective form of heating for large open-plan commercial and industrial spaces such as factories, warehouses, and distribution centres.

OKEL’s warm air heaters are available as either Natural Gas, LPG, or Electric fuel types, and enable large open-plan spaces to be heated more efficiently and effectively than with any other comparable method.

Warm air heating provides an even distribution of heat throughout the whole surrounding area to provide a comfortable working environment and one that minimises hot and cold spots, unlike radiant heaters which are rarely appropriate for these larger premises due to floor coverage.
