Date: March 2019
Customer Brief
Following the success of OKEL’s previous heating installations for Family Martial Arts in both Aintree and Liverpool South, OKEL were approached by our client to deliver a heating solution for Family Martial Arts Warrington.
The martial arts studio to be heated was situated in an open plan unit and benefited from a natural gas supply having previously been heated by a now obsolete Reznor suspended warm air heater.
Unlike OKEL’s previous Far Infra-red electrical installations for Family Martial Arts Studios, our client was keen to look at a natural gas fired warm air heating system that would heat the whole studio opposed to just the spectators seating areas that had been requested at FMA’s other studios.
Our client was particularly interested in the summer ventilation mode that the warm air system would provide especially in the summer months when the outside temperatures would rise.
Taking into consideration all the findings from OKEL’s site survey, OKEL proposed installing a 40 kw Winterwarm warm air suspended heater with integral axial destratification fan. To deliver maximum heat benefit the heater was to be wall mounted above the spectators viewing area and blowing outwards in the direction of the training area.
It wasn’t necessary to install stand-alone destratification fans as the main ceiling height was less than 5 meters in height and therefore the heater’s integral axial fan would provide the even distribution of warm air throughout the premises without the use of further destratification.
The warm air heater was to be controlled by a multi-functional thermostatic controller which included functionalities such as frost protection, keyboard locking, overtime programme, 10 programmable time blocks, summer ventilation mode and facility to connect to a BMS system
As part of the installation OKEL’s engineers would decommission and remove from site the obsolete Reznor heater situated at the opposite end of the studio.

All works were completed by OKEL’s Gas Safe and NICEIC electrical approved engineers, completing the installation over 2 days between the hours of 08:00 – 15:30hrs so not to cause disturbance to the classes that commenced from 16:00hrs onwards.
Gas Safe commissioning certification issued upon project completion.
