A family martial arts centre situated in Liverpool City Centre
Main Concerns: At the time of conducting the site survey the premises was found to be without any form of heating and had very high uninsulated ceiling space above. Due to the physical activities that take place within the premises our client was after a heating solution that would only heat the viewing area, where spectators gather, along with the main reception area.
- Provide an energy efficient heating solution that wasn’t reliant on a natural gas supply coming into the premises.
- A system that could provide instant spot heating rather than having to spend hours heating a premises to benefit from the heat
OKEL Solution: OKEL’s solution was to install an electric far infrared heating solution that comprised of 3.2 kw bars. Far infrared heating was chosen as unlike more traditional heating systems far infrared heats only the people or objects that it comes into contact with making it far more efficient than convection heating. This form of heat is felt almost instantaneous, thus removing unwanted costs associated with having to get a room to the desired temperature, its also perfect for providing comfortable spot heating and with the functionality for each heater panel to be individually controlled if required so you only need to heat the areas in use.
Due to the high ceiling expanse our engineers designed a solution that would enable the panel heaters to be suspended from chains above the viewing area to maximise the heat from the heater, whilst the heater panel in the reception area was wall mounted above the seating area.
Installation: Works were scheduled during the centres shut down week so not to cause any inconvenience to classes. All works were carried out by OKEL’s team of electrical approved engineers and electrical commissioning certificates issued on completion of the project.
