Due to the current Ideal Concord CX boiler system having been condemned under safety grounds by a 3rd party, Davison’s reached out to OKEL to provide a quote to install a new commercial boiler on site at their Birmingham office to provide heat and hot water supply.

Considering all the customers’ requirements gathered at the time of OKEL’s site survey we proposed installing a high-efficiency wall-mounted ATAG Commercial XL70 central heating system boiler.
The ATAG XL boiler model is the most efficient boiler and with the lowest lifetime running costs because of its outstanding gross efficiency (99.3%) and fully modulating and A-rated energy-efficient pump.
This boiler is designed so that it can be fuelled without any modifications required to blend up to 20% Hydrogen with natural gas. The ATAG Commercial XL boiler is a future proof purchase for the customer, preparing the business for when this greener hybrid fuel type becomes readily available throughout the UK gas network.
Unlike older boilers that have no modulation feature, ATAG’s XL boiler model is fully modulating which allows the boiler to use the exact level of heat needed in real time – this feature means that the boiler is incredibly efficient when it comes to fuel usage and in turn will reduce energy consumption and harmful emissions, and save on energy bills.

Introduction of a Plated Heat Exchanger
Included within our design was the introduction of a plated heat exchanger to protect the new boiler from the dirty system water that sits within the existing central heating system.
Introducing a modern pressurised boiler system to older pipework around the building can occasionally expose signs of weakness in the pipe and result in leaks. A plated heat exchanger will account for any differences in pressures between the boiler and pipe work, so that the 2 are separate from one another.
Hot Water Supply
To support the new modern boiler system, we quoted to replace the obsolete Heatra Sadia electric hot water cylinder and to replace it with a new high-efficiency Gledhill hot water storage vessel to be directly fed from the new boiler system. This provided the customer with an efficient and cost-effective way to store the hot water on site.
Installation / Results
The installations were completed on schedule and at a time to suit the customer. This included the decommissioning and removal of the obsolete boiler and hot water systems.
